Carbon prices edged up on bullish energy complex – EnergyScan

Carbon prices edged up on bullish energy complex

The power spot prices were mixed yesterday in northwestern Europe, rising in France and the Netherlands on higher fuels and carbon prices and expectations of stronger demand, but driven down in Germany and Belgium by forecasts of surging wind output. The day-ahead prices averaged 158.62€/MWh in the four countries, +1.33€/MWh day-on-day.

The carbon prices continued to track the bullish energy complex and rose throughout Tuesday amid few sellers and a lack of primary supply, before slightly retreating at the end of the session. The EUA Dec.22 eventually closed at 84.91€/t, +90-cent from Monday’s settlement.

The power curve prices extended strong gains yesterday, boosted by the rising fuels and emissions prices.
