EUA prices at all-time high – EnergyScan

EUA prices at all-time high

NWE spot baseload power prices were up last Friday, to €107.720/MWh on average for today delivery (compared to €96.053/MW for Friday), supported by expectations of lower wind generation and higher clean fuel costs.

EUA Dec’21 prices maintained their uptrend, rising to a new all-time high of €59.95/t and finally closing at €59.00/t (+3.76% day-on-day), supported by the increase in the CO2 implied switching level in a context of weak auction supply.

Curve power prices were up, mirroring the increase in gas, coal and EUA prices. German Cal 2022 baseload prices closed at €84.24/MWh on Friday, +1.18% compared to the previous session. French Cal 2022 baseload prices were up by 1.75%, closing at €87.00/MWh.

Like clean fuel costs, curve prices could continue to increase today. But profit taking by financial participants and technical resistances (€85.65/MWh on German Cal 2022 baseload) could contribute to limit gains.
