The weak wind production and increasing power demand due to the lowering temperatures maintained the power spot prices for today at decent levels in northwestern Europe. The day-ahead prices average 178.95€/MWh in Germany, France, Belgium and the Netherlands, -24.89€/MWh from Friday.
The carbon prices fell below 60€/t on Friday as the gas market continued to retreat over the last session of this particularly volatile week. The 58€/t support seems however to have once again capped the losses, and the EUA Dec.21 contract eventually settled at 58.33€/t, -2.04€/t from the previous day and -3.71€/t (-6%) week-on-week.
The power curve prices unsurprisingly tracked the fading carbon and gas prices and posted rather hefty losses along the curve.
